I've decided that I'm not going to bother posting this fic in full on lj anymore. It takes way too long for me to reformat (case in point, this chapter was actually posted on AO3 a month ago but the thought of having to go thru all that has kept me from putting it here as well until now), especially considering I don't think anyone's actually reading it on lj, or at least no one has ever commented.
For the sake of being thorough I am going to continue posting chapters here but only with links to AO3 without the actual body of the fic.
Shorter related one-shots, I might continue posting here in full, and maybe other stories in the future. We'll see. But this one in particular is just too damn long.
Title: In the shadows of the crossroads (Part 5: Janus)
Characters: Loki, Thor, Odin, Darcy, original characters; mention of Jane, the Avengers, Frigga, Phil Coulson, various others
Pairings: Darcy/Loki, Thor/Jane, Odin/Frigga
Rating: Rating: R for language, violence, dark magic, alcohol use, sex, death, dubious consent (bodyswap), adultery, violence against children, and angst
Length: 15,440 words
Summary: Two worlds existing side by side, two versions of one soul as alike as reflections in a mirror. Two paths for Fate to have taken: in one Loki became the villain we know...in the other, things went differently early on, both in choices and in chance. But an old enemy to one will soon become enemy to both. And as the fate of far more than two hangs in the balance, how will their own lives and the lives of everyone around them, be changed forever when these worlds collide?
Notes: See part one for full notes.

It's a love story for the new age: This is how the story goes. "Marry me," he says. "Are you serious?" she replies.
Fox/Xanatos, starting several years before the beginning of the series. Told from Fox's POV. Eloquent, flawless, and perfectly on-point. It also has a lot of Owen floating in and out of there, which is awesome, because Owen.

Unsurprisingly a lot of these have been cropping up lately, since another Vividcon just finished. Here's a round-up of some favs:
Smells Like Westeros Spirit Game Of Thrones; There's a king in every corner now. Great multi-focus vid that draws on a lot of parallels and themes across the families of the show. Also, it rocks out pretty damn hardcore.
Dyin' Day Hunger Games. A sad, slow, well-timed and pretty (in a bittersweet way) look at the imagery of loss, violence and hardship in the canon. Pulls out a lot of my favorite and most heartrending character moments from the film.
All these things that I've done Avengers; You know you gotta help me out. Oh god. Strikes at that sweet spot that is the intersection between "These guys are badass and awesome!" and "Team FEELS" that capitulates so much what I love about this movie. Plus it's to a Killers song that I've always absolutely loved. "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" indeed.
The Polka Slayer Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Into every generation a polka is born. A really fun video that does a lot of great and clever, artful uses of timing and lyric matching. Also brings in a neat little nostlgia kick for the earlier parts of the series.
No Direction Home Lost; I'm a complex guy, sweetheart. A Sawyer character study, and man. There were a lot of things I did not like about Lost by the time it was done, but Sawyer's character and the journey he went on was never one of them. This vid reminded me why.
Real World Iron Man/Avengers; I wish the real world would just stop hasslin' me. Tony Stark character vid that manages to be both fun and serious, as his character itself so often is. Also incorporates all four movies he's been in so far, which is impressive to say the least.
Run Boy Run Game Of Thrones; "Girls see more blood than boys." - Ygritte AHHHHHHH. Okay, so if you see none of the other vids I rec, definitely WATCH THIS ONE. It's about all (literally ALL) the ladies of Westeros and why they are awesome.

Rating: PG-13 for adult tone and angst

Summary: Time passes, winds blow, the world changes as it slips from one season to another, and Loki has the folly not to think that he will change, too.

So, those of you out there reading this may recall that about two years ago, a certain little film came out from the Marvel Cinematic Universe called Thor.
You may also be aware that I basically went batshit crazy for it, and soon after started working on what became an extremely lengthy multi-part fanfic series, mostly starring a certain now quite popular and infamous villain.
It has been, as I said, two years now since I started working on what I eventually titled the "Folkin' Around" series. Needless to say it's taken me a lot longer than I planned, and there have been a lot of bumps in the road and serious breaks and dips at times in my productivity.
But for those of you out there that have hung on this whole time, and are still following along, well have I got something in store for you.
Three weeks from now I will begin posting the final story in the fanfic saga. It will be ten parts long, and will at last bring the story of this entire alternate canon I've created for these characters to a close. But it will also involve more of the version of events as presented in the Avengers.
'But how?' you ask. Well...you're just going to have to show up and find out. Until then, I leave you all with this: I couldn't get another set of illustrations done for this one the way I did the first, "Kill all the pretty lies", but in honor of them and to celebrate all good things coming to an end, I commissioned a teaser. A 'movie poster' for the story, of sorts. (Once again done by the incomparable and insanely talented
machi_neko, whose professional website can be found here.) So have an exciting taste of what's to come for one of our favorite "heroes"...
And here's hoping I see you all back here in a few, when it comes time to find out just what's going on around here. Hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am. /salutes

Title: High Priestess In Red
Characters/Pairings: Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch), Loki, Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver), Erik Lensherr (Magneto), Steve Rogers (Captain America), Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel), Dr. Moira MacTaggert, Dr. Leo Samson, various others; implications of Wanda/Loki, Loki/Darcy Lewis, Wanda/Steve, Wanda/Carol, and Moira MacTaggert/Charles Xavier
Rating: PG-13 for angst, darkness, off-screen temporary character deaths, implied violence, unbalanced relationships, mental illness, and Magneto's questionable parenting skills
Length: 8,390 words
Summary: Wanda Maximoff has a gift of powerful magic. To learn to control it, she's going to have to be taught by someone strong.
Notes: Set in the same ongoing series as nearly all my other Loki-centric MCU fics. (Chronologically it starts somewhere after Shadow Puppets and spans up through most of the other already written stories.) This was originally posted over at AO3 in February, and can be read there if you prefer.
An odd little stand-alone, really, and admittedly very self-indulgent. But I wanted all along for Wanda to have a presence in this universe and to develop her character, and there didn't seem to be a good place to do it inside any of my other stories, so I guess you could say she gets her own spin-off issue. Like the rest of the Marvel films this version of Wanda is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll, which is to say she draws both from the 616 and the Ultimates continuities with a little from other influences thrown in. Oh, and not for nothing, but yes: the versions of Dr. MacTaggert and Doc Samson I picture here are the Olivia Williams and Ty Burrell ones, respectively.

Yikes. Okay, so, for what's it worth, I actually had this story completed and posted to AO3 way back in the middle of January. But re-formatting it for LJ is a bitch and a half and I didn't have the time to devote to that, especially since I don't really get much in the way of feedback over here any more.
I've got another two stories set in this series I've since written that I'll be re-posting here also, but after that I might just continue posting stories in their entirety over on AO3.

Characters: Loki, Thor, Jane, Darcy, Amora, Balder, Sif, Warriors Three, Odin, Frigga, Heimdall, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, original characters; mention of others
Pairings: Loki/Darcy, Thor/Jane, Thor/Amora, Loki/Amora, Volstagg/OC, Amora/OCs, Odin/Frigga
Rating: R for grimness, dark themes, gender weirdness, mild gore, language, mention of character deaths and semi-explicit sexuality
Length: 20,425 words
Summary: After what might seem to some like the world's longest courtship, Loki and Darcy are finally dating, and Thor and Jane are set to be married. But during the engagement party several intervening parties are out to throw a wrench into both relationships in a big way. Some of them are outsiders, but some come from much closer, and through uncomfortable ties to the past.

Clint/Natasha, bodyswap, rated: explict
He finds Natasha in the kitchen, eating an absolutely giant sandwich with every sign of enjoyment while Steve stands at the cooker, flipping pancakes.
“Hey,” Nat says when Clint looks from her to her quadruple layered snack, “it’s not your dress size the internet is scrutinising.”
Clint sighs, swiping a bottle of water from the fridge. “You let that shit get to you?”
Natasha rolls her eyes. “Half my job relies on my appearance,” she replies. “And, well, I work in a catsuit a lot of the time.”
Clint nods, gulping down the bottle and then shrugging: “my back hurts. Who knew boobs were so awkward?”
Steve makes a quiet choking sound.
Natasha narrows her eyes and then says: “you went for the pretty bras, didn’t you, not the practical ones.”

Some of them are outsiders, but some come from much closer, and through uncomfortable ties to the past.
